I’m really on a necessary “not spending money on things I don’t need” stint; but in honor of Mother’s Day I got some awesome new glasses from Bonlook. I chose their “Lovely” frames in Lilac Tort; I really like the way purple glasses look with my eye/hair color which is why I now have two pairs of purple glasses! So exciting haha. I will say they’re not as purple as I expected but that’s probably because my other purple glasses are a much more saturated and red-toned purple; they really do look just like their picture on Bonlook’s site. I love that they look so feminine and vintage but modern at the same time and they look great on me without any eye makeup at all=win.
Choosing Frames Online: It is a bit of a challenge ordering glasses online but Bonlook does have a pretty good webcam virtual try-on experience; I got to see how the shape of the glasses looked but it definitely visualized them smaller than they’d be in real life. Their photo upload try-on option though was more to scale.Ordering: I had my Rx already but totally forgot to attach it when I placed my order! Hoever, I emailed it to their customer service address and they quickly attached it to my order. I also had to take a photo with a credit card (I used a gift card=right size and no personal info) so they could estimate my pupillary distance. If I was going to the optometrist to get a new Rx before ordering I would have asked for them to measure/list my PD so I could have skipped this step.
Delivery: I received my glasses two weeks to the day from when I ordered them. I was wondering where they were at first since they state “Processing time at our lab takes between 2 to 5 business days” and I hadn’t heard anything 7 business days later. I emailed and received the same answer of “2 to 5…” but they shipped at 9 business days and were here by 10 so I’m happy.
The Product: The glasses come in a cute box and include a case and lens cloth (I’ll get a photo and post it here eventually). There was a strong smell when I first opened it all up and I’m not sure if it was the adhesive used in the case or the glasses themselves. I just left it all sitting out/open overnight and it dissipated. The glasses feel pretty sturdy and comparable to my current acrylic frames. They were a bit crooked when I received them but my optometrist adjusted them free of charge.
All in all my experience was very positive and I’d definitely go to Bonlook for future frames. But for now I need to stay away from their site because its too enticing lol!
P.S. I will post an update eventually on how they hold up with time.
