Vera enjoying a summer walk at 8 months in the ergobaby

By the time Vera was ready for a carrier, I had decided on the ergobaby Original in Sea Skipper with infant insert.

However, by the time I got around to buying it she was too big for the infant insert (sigh) but didn’t yet have enough head control without it so we couldn’t use it for a month or so 🙁

IKEA trip made easy with the carrier

In the time we have used it though, it has proven so so useful.

Pros:

  • Can carry her hands free
  • structured=doesn’t have to be tied correctly or whatnot (how does that work?!) like the cloth wraps
  • has pocket for phone keys wallet (con: could be bigger though)
  • has cover for her head
  • washable (have washed about 7 times already)
  • cute!
  • fits me or John just fine not hard to adjust

Cons:

  • Pocket for my things could be bigger
  • can hurt your back after awhile especially since muscles are out of whack post-pregnancy
  • People don’t always notice you’re carrying a baby and cut you off etc. a lot more frequently than when I use stroller
  • Kind of too warm in summer (for me and for her they do offer more breathable models)
  • Bulky, backpack-like straps make it awkward to carry diaper bag or purse too
  • excess slack from straps comes unraveled and ties to hold them aren’t great

In all, it works okay and looks okay but I really should have shopped around a bit more and not just bought it because of the cute anchor print haha
